I named these works the Sibling Series because the shapes look like related organisms floating and interacting within a matrix – like a family. My process is a form of meditation that exploits the immediacy, simplicity, and transparency of watercolor. The act of mark-making affirms my choices, focuses my attention, and creates beauty. The forms that develop are arrested in a moment of spontaneous relationship. I think of them as watercolor video-stills. - Sue Sommers
